Case Studies
Fully Loaded
One of Intermarine’s Century Class multipurpose heavy lift ships, the Industrial Chief, sails with a record load of project cargo to West Africa. The vessel loaded in Houston a variety of heavy lift refinery components and accessories totaling more than 15,000 revenue tons. Moreover, the shipment included two Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) Fractionators, each weighing 360 and 355 metric tons that became the heaviest components lifted by any of the seven Century Class ships so far. The 8,000 DWT ships are equipped with two 200-ton cranes combinable for 400 tons lifts.
The Fractionators were stowed on deck while a number of other heavy lift pieces ranging from 57 to 145 tons were stowed under deck.
The photos that follow depict the loading operation in Houston.
