Handling Coast Guard Cutters

One of Intermarine heavy lift vessels loads four Coast Guard Cutters in Norfolk, VA for the Persian Gulf. The 100-ft patrol boats were loaded at the NIT Marine Terminal. The Industrial Challenger has since been renamed the M/V Ocean Atlas and is one of four US Flag vessels in the Intermarine Fleet. These 8000 DWT vessels are part of seven sister ships in the fleet equipped with dual 200 MT cranes combinable for 400 ton lifts, about 400,000-cuft bale, a service speed of 16.5 knots, and a hatch opening of 71 meters with adjustable tweendecks.

The ships are very well suited for the movement of commercial project/heavy-lift cargo and very useful to the U.S. military. The vessels' 400-ton lifting capacity is the largest available in the US merchant marine.
