Houston Fog Delays

December 22, 2008

Present conditions in Houston have improved. However, due to fog, the Houston Ship Channel was closed to vessel traffic from the very early morning of 17 December, 2008 through Sunday 21 December, 2008. There were short periods during this time frame where the Houston Pilots provided service for out bound traffic. This allowed for the Industrial Dolphin V281171, the Jannie C V281170 and the Caribbean Carrier V281169 to sail from Houston.

Currently Industrial Maritime Carrier (IMC) has 5 vessels in Houston. Today, IMC has the Industrial Charger and the Industrial Dart working at Industrial Terminals, and the Baltimar Saturn at Manchester Terminals. The Baltimar Euros and Atlant Svenja are presently at anchor waiting an available berth. We anticipate the Atlant Svenja to berth tomorrow P.M.

Forward forecast has a warming trend after Christmas. This will likely produce a similar situation with the Houston Ship Channel. We will continue to monitor the weather and keep everyone duly informed of vessel schedules.
