James M. Leonard is Vice President of Intermarine’s Asia service Operations and Agency Group based in Shanghai. He has been employed in the shipping industry for more than 25 years and began his career in Chicago, Illinois with Nordship Steamship Agencies. Mr. Leonard worked with Central Gulf Lines for over ten years where he ultimately became the General Manager of Operations. He was responsible for the company’s worldwide cargo and vessel activities of its LASH and breakbulk ships. Additionally, he was also actively involved in all contract negotiations with the Military Sealift Command. Before joining Intermarine in 1991, he was the Vice President of Operations of American Gulf Shipping Company operating 12 off shore Cargo barges in International Trade. In Shanghai, Mr. Leonard continues to work the turn key type business while helping develop/grow/build the Asian operations which has grown from one ship two years ago, to eight (8) ships nowadays.
